Shake Shack opened its newest Minnesota restaurant near Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka on Wednesday, Oct. 21, bringing the burger-and-shake chain to a redeveloped commercial property on Plymouth Road.
The restaurant is the company's fifth Minnesota location, according to Bring Me The News.
The project occupies part of a former Wells Fargo bank property near the shopping center. A Chipotle Mexican Grill opened on the adjoining site in July.
The new Shake Shack serves the chain's familiar menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries and hand-spun milkshakes.
Opening supports local food shelf
The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce confirmed the restaurant's Oct. 21 opening following a preview event the previous day.
For opening day, Shake Shack pledged to donate $1 from each burger or chicken sandwich purchased to ICA Food Shelf, a Minnetonka nonprofit serving people experiencing food insecurity.
The restaurant also offered gifts to some of its first customers.
The ICA Food Shelf operates food assistance programs in the western Twin Cities suburbs, including a central food shelf in Minnetonka.
Part of Ridgedale redevelopment
The Shake Shack project had been in development since 2024.
It adds another dining option to the commercial area around Ridgedale Center, where redevelopment has brought new restaurants and other businesses.
The City of Minnetonka's development records document Shake Shack's 2026 application for restaurant alcohol licenses.
The company already operates restaurants near several other Twin Cities shopping centers, including the Mall of America, Southdale Center, the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes and Rosedale Center.
Additional Shake Shack locations have been proposed in Eden Prairie and Woodbury, although opening dates for those restaurants have not been established.
Customers can find current location details and operating hours through Shake Shack's official restaurant directory.
